Modes at a Glance

Axion has several main “view modes”, each tailored to a specific part of performing, editing, or generally making noise in an organized fashion.

You can switch modes two ways:

From the top toolbar:

Click any icon to switch directly to that mode.

From the foot switch Press and hold “Mode” (Switch 1)** to cycle between view modes without taking your hands off the instrument.

Every mode presents a different view of the same rig, scenes, assignments, and song data. You are not loading a different version of your setup. You are simply changing how Axion presents it and what the foot controls and display are focused on.

The number and sequence of modes can be configured under Settings > Preferences.

Rig Mode

Rig Mode is where you build, inspect, and edit your signal chain.

Add devices, change their order, adjust parameters, reroute signals, monitor levels throughout, and dismantle perfectly respectable tones until they become a source of inspiration. This is the main workspace for designing and editing rigs, and understanding exactly what your audio is doing.

Scene Mode

Scene Mode is used to select, create, and edit scenes.

Scenes are snapshots of your rig that recall device settings, bypass states, routing, and other assigned changes. Use them to move between song sections, create alternate versions of a rig, or make dramatic changes without performing emergency touchscreen surgery between chords.

Stomp Mode

Stomp Mode turns the footswitches into user-assignable performance controls.

Despite the name, stomps are not limited to turning effects on and off. A stomp can load a scene, open the tuner, change a parameter, trigger an action, or perform whatever other task you assign to it. They are programmable foot controls, not tiny dictators demanding that every switch behave like a traditional pedal. You decide what each one does in Footswitch Assignment.

Song Mode

Song Mode displays lyrics and chord charts while you perform.

Use it to keep song information visible without balancing a phone on an amplifier, taping paper to the floor, or pretending you definitely remember the second verse. Songs can also be connected to rigs and scenes, keeping the things you need for a performance in one place. Charts and lyrics can optionally automatically scroll in sync with the song’s tempo, so you never lose your place.

The four views are different windows into the same setup. Build in Rig View, organize changes in Scene View, control the performance in Stomp View, and remember the words in Song View. Axion handles the structure. What you do to the sound is your problem.

Once a view is set the way you want it, Screen Lock freezes the touchscreen and knobs while leaving the footswitches live, so a stray cable or a neighbour’s boot can’t rearrange your tone mid-song.
