FIRST BOOT.

If you have used a guitar processor, modeler, or amp profiler before, the workflow on Axion will feel familiar: connect your instrument and monitoring, load a rig, set the output volume, and play. This page takes you through that first session. See Connections for every jack and Controls for the complete front panel tour.

Connect and start

1. Turn down your speakers, mixer channel, or headphones before making connections.
2. Connect a guitar or bass to IN 1 with a standard instrument cable.
3. Connect OUT L and/or OUT R to powered FRFR speakers, an audio interface, an amplifier or a mixer using a standard instrument cable, or a TRS to XLR cable. You can also connect headphones to the headphone output if you prefer.
4. Connect the supplied power adapter. Axion will boot up in about ten seconds.
5. Gradually bring up the volume on your monitoring system, play, and turn knob E gradually to set the main output volume.

If you see input activity but hear nothing, open the menu and choose Mixer. Confirm that IN 1 and the output you connected are turned up. In Rig view, also check that no required devices are bypassed. See Troubleshooting for the full no audio checklist.

Load a factory rig

The current rig name and number appear at the top of the screen.

1. Tap the current rig name to open Select Rig.
2. Choose the factory set list in the left column.
3. Tap a rig in the right column to load it.
4. Play and adjust knob E for a comfortable output level.
5. Try other factory rigs the same way. You can also hold footswitch 4 or 5 to move to the previous or next rig.

A factory rig is read only. You can change it freely while it is loaded, then save the result as a user rig. The original factory version remains available.

Make a first change

Switch to Rig Mode if it is not already selected. Tap a device tile to open it, then turn the knobs below the screen to change the parameters shown above them. Close the device screen to return to the chain. Double tap a device tile when you want to compare it active and bypassed.

To add a device, tap a + position in the chain, choose a category or use search, then select the device or preset. The device is inserted at that exact point. See Building Rigs for moving, removing, and configuring the chain.

Save your first rig

1. Tap the save icon beside the rig name.
2. Choose a user set list. Select New Setlist if you need to create one.
3. Select the program slot where the rig should live.
4. Enter a name that will be easy to recognize on stage.
5. Tap Save.

Saving stores the device order, parameter values, bypass states, scenes, and control assignments with the rig. Saving over an occupied user slot replaces that slot, so choose the destination carefully.
