Overview

Pug Blast is an aggressive hard clipping distortion with a tight input and a variable filter after the clipping stage. Distortion moves from gritty drive to dense compression and sustain. Filter removes high frequencies after distortion, with higher values producing a darker sound. Level sets the output from 12 dB of cut to 12 dB of boost.

Because the filter follows the clipping stage, it changes the amount of edge without changing how hard the signal clips. This makes Pug Blast useful for raspy garage rhythm, singing leads, and heavy sounds that need a simple way to control fizz.

Tips

• For a balanced starting point, set Distortion to 45%, Filter to 50%, and Level to 0 dB.
• For articulate rhythm, keep Distortion below halfway and use a lower Filter value for more bite.
• For a thick lead, raise Distortion above 65% and turn Filter upward until the top end sits behind the note.
• Set the Filter while listening through the final cabinet or impulse response. Cabinet choice strongly affects how much high frequency filtering is useful.
• Use Level to match bypass before comparing tones, or add a few decibels when the device is assigned as a solo sound.
