Song Input
Play song tracks through devices at any point in a chain.
Song Input adds audio from the song view at its position in a rig’s chain. Incoming chain audio passes through, and devices after Song Input process both signals.
Route a track
- Add Song Input from the Utility device category to a chain. Each new instance receives a numbered label, such as Song Input 1.
- Open a song in the song view.
- Use the track’s Output selector to choose that Song Input.
For example, placing Song Input before an amp and reverb lets a recorded guitar DI pass through both. Moving Song Input after the amp sends the recording through just the reverb. Multiple tracks can use the same Song Input; their audio is mixed before downstream processing. Multiple Song Input devices can be placed in the rig.
Main plays a track directly through the song playback mix. Choosing a Song Input removes that track from the direct mix. Track gain, mute and solo apply before the audio reaches Song Input. Mono recordings feed both sides; stereo recordings retain their left and right channels.
Bypass and missing destinations
Bypassing Song Input stops its playback contribution while passing incoming chain audio through. Stopping the song stops its feed, allowing downstream delay and reverb tails to finish.
Track destinations are saved in song.json; Song Input devices are saved with the rig. Save the rig as well as the song settings. Moving a device within the rig preserves its routing. If the current rig does not contain the assigned device, the track shows Output: Unavailable and its playback is silent. Load the matching rig or select another destination. Audio never switches to Main automatically.
Song Input uses the song transport and adds no extra playback block of latency. Effects after it can introduce their own latency; this feature does not add compensation between the direct song mix and processed tracks.
