This policy explains what Severed Inc. ("Severed", "we", "us") collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. It covers the website and online store at severedcircuits.com, Backstage (backstage.severedcircuits.com), Severed Cloud (cloud.severedcircuits.com), the Axion hardware and its software updates, and our desktop and mobile companion apps.
What We Collect
- Your account: your name, your public @handle, your email address and your password (stored only in a protected, hashed form). One account signs you in to Severed Cloud and Backstage.
- Orders: your name, shipping and billing address, email, phone number and what you bought. Payments are handled by a payment provider; we never see or store your card number.
- Content you share: what you upload to Severed Cloud and what you post on Backstage.
- Your library and units: which items are in your cloud library and on your paired units, and the serial number and model of each Axion you pair to your account.
- Logs: the usual web server logs, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time of the request.
- Cookies and analytics: cookies that keep you signed in and your cart working, and analytics cookies that tell us how the websites are used.
- From your Axion: when it checks for software updates, it sends its model and current software version. If you turn them on, it also sends telemetry and crash reports, which help us find and fix problems.
Why We Use It
- to run the services, including syncing your library to your paired units;
- to process, ship and support your orders;
- to answer your support questions;
- to keep accounts and the services secure and prevent abuse;
- to improve our products, using telemetry and crash reports you chose to send.
We do not sell your personal information.
What Is Public
Some things are public by design: your @handle, the content you upload to Severed Cloud (shown with your handle), and your posts on Backstage (where your handle is your username). Do not put anything in them you want kept private.
Who We Share It With
We share information only with providers that help us run the services, such as hosting, email, payment, shipping and analytics providers, and only as much as they need to do that job for us. We also share information when the law requires it, or to protect people, our users or the services. If Severed is ever sold or merged, your information would move to the new owner under this policy.
We send emails you need: verifying your address, password resets, order and shipping updates, and important notices about your account or these policies. Marketing email is separate: you only get it if you opt in at sign-up, and you can stop it at any time with the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
How Long We Keep It
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Order records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require. Server logs and crash reports are kept only as long as they are useful for running and fixing the services.
Your Choices
- Edit your account details from your account page.
- Delete your account from your account page. Content you already published stays available to people who already have it, shown as by a deleted account.
- Turn telemetry and crash reports off on your Axion at any time.
- Stop marketing email with the unsubscribe link.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser. The store and sign-in may not work without them.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by emailing us.
Security
We protect your information with encryption in transit, hashed passwords and limited access. No system is perfect, so please use a strong password you do not use anywhere else.
Children
The services are not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above, and for significant changes we will tell you by email or on the services before they take effect.
