Axion is here at last.
For the last year, we’ve been soldering, coding, cursing Kicad and sometimes not-so-quietly building the digital rig we couldn’t find anywhere. Not just a faster DSP or better profiling or effects. An entirely different idea of what ditching the heavy tube amps and going digital should feel like. How should it sound? And how should it play?
Today, we can finally lift the curtain and start talking about Axion: What it is, what it isn’t, and where we’re taking it.
Our team is made of performing musicians first and foremost, and we are tired of the same old compromises: harsh digital sound, difficulty dialing in a great tone and feel, waiting forever for vendor updates and features, and working around old outdated tech. Rather than keep working around those problems, we had a crazy idea: What if we build the digital rig that will never have them?
What that idea became
An obscene amount of compute. Axion runs on a 6-core, 4.3GHz processor with an onboard GPU. That’s enough muscle to run NAM A2-Full and train your own NAM captures and run an entire digital studio right on the device. You can the actual models the way they are meant to sound, not stripped-down versions squeezed to fit weak hardware.
An open platform. Axion is built by and for musicians, designed from the ground up on industry standards such as LV2 and VST so that anyone can extend it. No more waiting for a vendor to release an update. Need an effect we haven’t built yet? Load up your own! The plugins you already know and trust from your studio can now run on stage, in your rig, in real time.
Built for the stage. A massive 11-inch touchscreen with an intuitive UI and clear, large text you can actually read under lights. Chord charts, lyric sheets, stems and backing tracks, a multitrack looper, MIDI control to drive your light show. All the things you actually need when you’re up there, all in one place.
Yours to grow. Inside Axion, every component is expandable and upgradable, from the CPU and DSP to the audio path. Axion isn’t the modeler you resell in two years to chase the next one. It’s the one you add more RAM, upgrade the CPU, and keep on rocking with even as technology advances.
